Electric Bus Terminus

Our proposals for Electric Bus Terminus in New Town, Kolkata. We designed two different Bus terminus for the client for two separate sites. One of them is developed around the concept of Folded Roof Shading the angular parking bays for the bus. Built using stacked shipping containers, the structure is fast to assemble and adds a unique character to the urban fabric. The vibrant signages and graphics make it easier to navigate the project for the users. The office block forms the corner landmark to the bus terminus.

The other proposal for the bus portal creates a cohesive design by integrating the peripheral changing bays with human circulation through central archway. The workshop and office block made by stacking refurbished shipping containers create a play of solids and voids in the Facade. This allows for step out spaces for employees to take a break and connect to their surroundings. By cutting out large windows from the otherwise dark and dense shipping containers transform them into pleasant habitable spaces. The use of these containers aims to reduce and reuse industrial waste and materials while entirely cutting down on carbon footprint a typical construction method would have.
